If not, I will take a full set with no preference on shafts, as I plan to have all clubs reshafted, once the combo set has been pieced together and refinished. I am looking primarily for 3-6 iron, and would take heads alone if you prefer to retain the shafts to resale. If you fine people could help me find a set that is reasonably priced and in reasonably good shape, I'd be greatly appreciative. It will be square/straight across the top, where the cavity starts, rather than round like in the 2002s. The 2006 model shares a similarly styled head as the 2002, but with the distinct difference being the muscle shape. So, that leaves me with looking for a 2006 set that I've only read good things about. Looking at the iron market broadly, I think the combination of thicker top line and minimal offset makes the Edge unique and appealing. They’re thicker in the top line and sole, and have, on average, as 12 larger face than the PTx irons. So, it's a total chance of whether or not you get a 2001 set that is good quality or a post 2002 set that is of lesser quality in the feel department. The Edge irons are the largest, most game-improvement iron that Ben Hogan Golf has released. Which has a VFT steel shaft, but feels and plays very much like the rest of the set. This is with the exception of the Pitching Wedge. This set of Hogan GCDs are 1-SW (11 pieces) and have Hogan Apex Modulus Tour Weighted Graphite iron shafts.
I've looked at a few of the more recent sets of Hogan CBs and I absolutely have fallen in love with the looks and reviews of the Apex Edge (pocket cavity) clubs. Ben Hogan Edge GCD Golf Irons (1-SW) Apex 4 Graphite Tour Weighed Shafts. but, since I'm moving to these from a set of Callaway X-Forged (2007) I'm finding it a bit hard to hit the long irons. The DynaCraft 'OEM Replacement Analysis Replacement Guide' lists a Royal Precsion - FCM for some Hogan Apex shafts and TT - Dynalite Gold for others. I recently chanced across a set of 1999 Apex blades in the bargain bin at my local 2nd hand sporting goods store, and boy are they sweet.
